Dundashill Plot 4A, Glasgow

Dundashill, in the north of Glasgow is a former industrial site, set in a steeply sloping natural landform that offers spectacular views across the city. The 79-unit development at Plot 4A comprises seven terraced blocks of three storey townhouses, arranged around a central landscaped space.

While the wider landscape slopes steeply, an engineered platform was created on the site, offering an economic and efficient foundation solution for the new development, avoiding the need for expensive piling or ground improvement solutions being adopted.

A key aspect of the development was the design of a SUDS strategy which combined attenuation with the provision of an amenity space where residents could socialise. This was achieved by the creation of a ‘sunken garden’ basin at the heart of the site development which comprised Seating areas alongside carefully considered and robust planting.

The industrial legacy of the site also required consideration, and G3 worked with the design team to design and validate remedial measures that worked with the proposed landscape and drainage design.
