Our core services comprise civil and structural engineering, geo-environmental investigation and assessment and Principal Designer/CDM services. Each element combines seamlessly in-house, allowing us to provide an integrated and holistic approach to each project for a wide variety of clients across the public and private sectors.
Starting with a desk based assessment of a site, we are able to identify potential constraints to development; using this, we prepare outline sketches and layouts, developing strategies for roads, drainage, foundations, structures, utilities and flooding. As the project evolves, these initial concepts are developed, allowing for the preparation of an outline engineering specification and statement to be submitted as part of the planning application for development. At the technical design stage, we will prepare detailed drawings in support of roads, drainage and building warrant consents, demonstrating compliance with statutory requirements, and provide SER certification. This includes preparation of site levels, foundation, roads and drainage layouts and provision of superstructure details and specifications.
Our engineering support continues at construction stage, providing contractors with sufficient information to allow works to be constructed, and examining contractors’ proposals to ensure conformity with performance specifications. We attend relevant site meetings as required, and carry out site inspections, ensuring that works are being executed in accordance with our design, the contract documents and with good engineering practice.
Geo-environmental Engineering
We offer a wide range of services from desk studies and Due Diligence assessments, through geo-environmental site investigation design and reporting, preparation of Remediation Strategies and design of grout consolidation works, finishing with supervision and validation of remedial works. We can also assist with waste and material management planning, which, when integrated into cut and fill design, can provide greater cost certainty for our clients.
We recognise that the main risk to many projects lies in the ground. By working collaboratively with our civil and structural engineering colleagues, we can ensure that potential geo-environmental and mineral stability constraints are considered at each stage of the project, allowing them to be addressed as the site design progresses.
Having the geo-environmental section in-house enhances the service that we offer our clients, enabling seamless integration of site investigation recommendations into the overall engineering design. It also allows a quick turnaround in any queries or alteration to design without having to recourse to another consultant.
G3 takes a holistic approach in the provision of PD services, health and safety and engineering; having the ability to provide this in-house allows us to ensure full integration of these disciplines. From providing initial advice, through vetting design proposals, preparing pre-construction information documents, notifying the HSE and reviewing Construction Phase Plans to preparing the overall development Health and Safety File, G3 delivers a comprehensive CDM service, tailored to meet our client’s needs.
The practice takes a proactive approach to design risk management by being forward thinking and embracing the most recent developments and techniques within the construction industry. This also ensures that employees are up to date with the latest guidance. Communication is key to the performance of our duties under the CDM Regulations 2015, and we strive to ensure that the designers, client, and contractor work as a team identifying hazards at an early and allowing these to be managed accordingly.
