Water Row, Govan

The phase 1 development at Water Row comprises of 92 mid-market rent flats and 6 commercial units for Govan Housing Association at the site of an existing car park.   Adjacent to the new Govan-Partick bridge sits five buildings of varying size linked together by a freestanding feature colonnade.  G3 worked closely with the design team and the contractor to develop a structural solution for this prominent site in Govan which is bound by the Clyde to the north and the route of the Subway tunnels to the south.

With the site comprising of piled foundations, the location of the tunnels meant that a dilapidation survey of the subway system was required pre and post piling works to ensure the working did not impact on the structure of the tunnels.  The historical use of the site as an old docks meant that there were many obstructions which necessitated a flexible design to the foundations to one of the blocks due to a reinforced concrete crane base being present.

Services Undertaken:

Civil Engineering / Structural Engineering / Geo-Environmental / Principal Designer
