The project comprised the conversion of existing B-listed school building designed by James Austen Laird, (personal assistant to Sir JJ Burnet, one of Glasgow’s most distinguished architects), into twenty affordable homes. The development was further increased by newbuild construction of 8 No timber frame cottage flats within the former school playground. The existing school building comprised a central two storey administration building flanked on each side with single storey classroom wings and backed by an assembly hall. To facilitate the conversion, the assembly hall and access colonnades serving the classroom wings were carefully demolished. The two-storey administration building, and the classroom elements of the wings were converted to form the new housing units.
