This development comprises a 7-storey flatted block, providing 33 residential units for New Gorbals Housing Association. The new structure resides in a prominent location on Crown Street, overlooking Glasgow city centre and its presence dominates the landscape when entering the Gorbals from the north.
The building occupies a very tight site, in immediate proximity to existing buildings. This challenge, coupled with significant made ground present on site, meant that a bored pile foundation solution was required in order to provide a robust building foundation, whilst at the same time maintaining minimal disruption to all adjacent properties. G3 Consulting Engineers designed and inspected all foundation works carried out on the project.
The superstructure comprised a steel frame & composite metal floor deck system which was designed by G3 consulting engineers. This strategy allowed the architect, freedom and sufficient space to design modern, open plan living accommodation for prospective NGHA tenants.
