The building is Laurena NHS Family Health Centre located on Kinfauns Drive in Drumchapel.
The architect’s vision for the building posed various structural challenges, including the cantilevered first and second floor plates to the main elevation and the associated raking picture frame cladding. By working closely with the project architect, we were able to design the steel frame to be seamlessly integrated into the building fabric thus achieving the architect’s vision. The building was also highly serviced with M+E plant and detailed coordination had to be undertaken between all stakeholders to ensure that the plant and structure were fully coordinated, thus avoiding problematic clashes during construction.
