The William Quarrier Scottish Epilepsy Centre in Govan is a brand new treatment centre providing world leading epilepsy diagnosis, treatment, research and training facilities. Named in honour of Quarriers’ founder the centre will be fully integrated with the Institute of Neurological Sciences at the Southern General Hospital.
The building comprises a two storey front of house including reception, auditorium, offices, meeting rooms, plant room and toilets and a single storey section to the rear comprising clinical rooms, dining room, kitchen, living accommodation and an external courtyard.
A steel frame was adopted for the two storey section of the building and the single storey section of the building supporting the external plant located on the roof. The single storey accommodation was contractor designed timber frame. The main feature staircase is constructed in steelwork and clad in timber.
